I know the last few days have been extraordinarily busy and trying times for each of you. You are being called upon to make some really difficult decisions, to care for your employees, and to find that ever-elusive balance between guests’ and owners’ needs.

As you push forward, I just wanted to let you know that our team is here to help in any way we can. We know how important it is for you to understand what is happening and what is changing in your market on a daily basis, and we are doing our best to answer all your calls and questions. We appreciate that you are relying on this data to drive your communications and decisions as this crisis continues to unfold, and we ask for your patience as we work to get back with each of you. Our partner advocates and our entire team are working hard to guide you through any questions you have about the data, and we are happy to answer anything we can about the trends and shifts we are watching as they develop.

  • Updated Data - Keep an eye on the new Virus Impacts page of our website for the latest data. Mid-last week, with the closure of Europe, the Disney parks, and cruises, we saw a definitive turn-around and spike in bookings for arrivals in the next 30-days. Many markets like Orlando continued to decline, but a majority of markets saw a spike in bookings as guests looked to replace their canceled Spring Break plans. Unfortunately, Sunday saw a turn back down for most of these markets, and Monday’s news of a virus lasting until “July or August” saw some new spikes in summer cancellations.
  • Best Reports & Sample Correspondence – Check out “Helpful Articles” in the Key Data Partner Learning Center (the “?” in the blue circle in the top right corner of your dashboard). We’ve just added two new sections. The first describes the best reports to use to watch your data, and the second provides a sample of owner, guest, and employee communications about COVID-19. Of course, each circumstance is unique and the facts are changing daily, but we thought it would be helpful for you to see a sample of some the communications going out.
  • New Screens - We’re working around the clock to roll out some new screens specifically built to help you better visualize the changes in daily booking and cancellation patterns. Be on the lookout for those in the coming days.

I deeply appreciate each of you participating with Key Data and making all this possible for our industry. I also ask for your patience with our team as we face this ever-changing crisis and attempt to answer all of your questions.
